A wise man once said that variety is the spice of life, and that is true when it comes to weddings too! Jordan and Spenser’s wedding day was a wonderful blend of traditional locations and non-traditional details. I normally meet the bride many months before the big day, but this time, that was not the case. My first contact for Jordan’s and Spenser’s wedding was Jordan’s mom. While Jordan was hard at work learning to be a doctor at medical school in Mobile, her mom was busy planning the wedding. You know there has to be a lot of love and trust in their relationship!
While her mom planned a lot of the day, my favorite aspects were the details that were distinctly Jordan- starting with her silver dress. It looked beautiful hanging on the big red doors of the church and it went perfectly with Jordan’s iridescent teal shoes. The bridesmaids’ dresses were white and gorgeous from the front and the back. Spenser sported a special detail of his own – a set of Frank Lloyd Wright cufflinks given to him by his bride-to-be. The bride and groom surprised everyone at the end of the ceremony when they went for a fist pump rather than a kiss. And yes, they blew it up to make the ceremony complete.
The reception took place at Sykes Place on Bank Street. The guests enjoyed the music, food, and atmosphere, as well as a photo booth out back on the patio. In another non-traditional twist, the bride’s table was full of many small cakes rather than one large cake. Each one was adorned with flowers and its own pattern of white buttercream icing. There was also a table of different flavors of cookies and a punch bowl full of milk to accompany them. The night ended with a New Orleans style parade down Bank Street to a green space. The newlyweds leaned on their getaway car as their guests launched paper lanterns to see them on their way.
